Vintage is
❤ but getting it right is another. Mixing and matching is the way to go but sometimes it can be quite a challenge to strike the balance between looking like a bag lady vs oh-so-Alexa Chung! Here are a few tips and tricks :
1. I always say the best part of vintage fashion is that
anything old can be new again. So don't be afraid to raid your mom's or even grandma's closet for some oldies but goodies.
2. The key to not looking like your grandma is to make sure you
mix it up! =) Rather than dressing vintage from head to toe, make sure you incorporate one great piece with your daily outfit.
3. Don't be afraid to
visit your tailor! That fabulous 50s cocktail dress you managed to snag could have been a better fit back then. Get the most of your vintage clothing by sending them to the tailor. Nothing is worse than having clothes that don't fit well.
4. Remember when i mentioned everything old can be new again? Sometimes all you need is a little twist and modification to
revive those vintage pieces. For example, try changing the buttons on the blouse, shortening the dress and adding a belt - you name it! Even minor changes can give you a completely new look.
5. Don't forget to
accessorize! Instead of vintage clothing you can opt for vintage accessories to spice up any modern day outfits. Sometimes all it takes is one fantastic piece of jewelry to give you the perfect amount of vintage charm and take your outfit to a whole new level of chic!
At the end of the day there are no set rules so have fun and rock your own style!
